Quick Overview

Through our virtual app, you can connect with Angelenos who are experiencing homelessness but are on their path to a home. Volunteers perform Acts of Kindness - sending an encouraging message, contributing toward an immediate need, and many other options - to create social, financial, and emotional support that is pivotal to reaching their goals.



Impact

This model of simple acts over time has helped more than 50% of our Members measurably improve their access to care, housing, income or another basic need. To date, we have activated more than 15K Samaritans, had $178K invested in our unhoused members, and helped 300 members who have reached their housing or employment goals.

Volunteer Roles and Responsibilities

Virtual volunteers - Samaritans - need to download the samaritan app in order to participate.

When you enter the app, you will need to choose a city to volunteer in - please select Los Angeles - and create a login.

Once in the app, you will see many social profiles of unhoused residents (Samaritan Members) in the Los Angeles area. Simply choose one or more Members to walk with.

You can send a one time Act of Kindness, or join their team and commit to doing 1 Act of Kindness a month.

Additional Information

It is ok to log in to the app one time or occasionally to perform an Act of Kindness for members in the app. Every single interaction matters!

However, we've seen that an average of 8 Acts of Kindness a month per Samaritan Member is where we see the biggest increase in measurable outcomes.

If you want to maximize your impact, join a Member's 8 person team and commit to sending an Act of Kindness once a month. Once on the team, you'll be able to track their progress, receive updates from the care team, and be a big part of their journey home!
