Volunteer for the Indiana Historical Society in support of National History Day Indiana (NHDI)

NHDI is an educational program that encourages students in grades 4 thru 12 to explore history that interest them. Students express their creativity and historical analysis through performances, documentaries, websites, papers and exhibits.

Volunteers are needed to evaluate and rank these projects ahead of the national contest.

Judges do not need to have prior knowledge of a specific history topic to volunteer because during NHDI-the students are the experts! Judges will receive everything they need during an orientation starting at 8am-breakfast and coffee provided. Reviewing and discussing projects with students will run from approximately 9am to noon. Judges will then have a chance to have lunch, provided by IHS, and complete evaluations and rank projects. Judges will likely be done by 2pm.

We are in person this year and look forward to seeing you all there!!

About Indiana Historical Society

450 West Ohio Street, Indianapolis, IN 46202, US

Mission Statement

Since 1830, the Indiana Historical Society has been Indiana’s Storytellerâ„¢, connecting people to the past by collecting, preserving, interpreting and disseminating the state's history. A private, nonprofit membership organization, IHS maintains the nation's premier research library and archives on the history of Indiana and the Old Northwest. IHS also provides support and assistance to local museums and historical groups, publishes books and periodicals; sponsors teacher workshops; and provides youth, adult and family programming.

History should not be viewed-it should be experienced. You can help make a real connection with the past by volunteering at the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center. From interacting with our guest to working with our historic collections, IHS has a great volunteer opportunity that is right for you.
