YouthLink

YouthLink is seeking individuals or groups of up to 10 people to help process large amounts of clothing, household, and toiletry donations.

Each month, YouthLink gives out more than 250 clothing items to teens and young adults that are experiencing homelessness.

We rely on volunteers to help create a dignified retail space for young people to pick out essentials like t-shirts, sweatshirts, coats, winter hats & gloves, pants, and shoes. You are helping move out donations, so that more items can go out to youth that need them.

Your tasks:

  • Sort through clothing, discard stained/ripped/broken items, and organize by size, type, style, etc.
  • Restock the clothing closet hangers, bins, and shelves
  • Put size stickers on shoes and organize by size
  • Maintain space cleanliness (recycle boxes, throw away broken hangers, re-hang fallen clothing)

Physical requirements:

  • Moderate lifting, repetitive motions, bending, standing for an extended period of time. Please reach out to Volunteer Manager to discuss possible accommodations (Carley at kleinhans@youthlinkmn.org)

Volunteer opportunities are available Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays 9AM-4:30PM. Shifts are typically 2 hours long. Please include some preferred dates and times in your inquiry if possible. We need help ASAP!

Mission Statement

At YouthLink, our mission is to support and empower young people on their journey to self-reliance. Our vision is a community in which all youth, without regard to their living situation, have an equal opportunity to pursue their goals and dreams, and an equal likelihood of achieving them.

Description

At YouthLink, we have over 40 years of experience connecting young people with a community of resources and support. Whether it’s basic needs, like a hot shower or a warm meal, assistance with employment or educational goals, accessing mental and physical health resources, or finding supportive housing, we can help young people at all stages of their journey.

YouthLink is also the host site for the Youth Opportunity Center (YOC). The YOC is a unique collaborative model, bringing together a variety of organizations and agencies that provide resources young people experiencing homelessness may need - all in one location. Our one-stop-shop model helps deliver life-changing resources more effectively for the young people we work with.

On any given night in Minnesota, 4,000 young people will experience homelessness. But homelessness is not their final destination. Thanks to YouthLink, and supporters like you, we can open new pathways for young people facing barriers, and help them build more stable futures.
