Recruiting Organization: The Laurel Foundation: Empowering Trans/GNC Youth and Children, Youth and Families Affected by HIV/AIDS

The Laurel Foundation is entering into its 30th year of service of empowering at-risk youth affected by HIV/AIDS and transgender/gender diverse youth. We are dedicated to changing the lives of our youth and families through educational and fun programming. Our volunteers are part of a dynamic team that creates a safe space for youth and families to be themselves, step out of their comfort zones, and help make valuable, lifelong connections.

We are seeking males to join our volunteer team at Camp Laurel and serve as Cabin Counselors at our Winter Family Camp! This camp is dedicated to empowering our youth and families affected by HIV/AIDS. We are heading to the beautiful mountains in Angelus Oaks where our families will get to participate in traditional camp activities such as arts & crafts, archery, high ropes, and much more. Our program also offers specialty sessions led by mental health professionals. These topics vary from How to Help with Anxiety, Sex & Healthy Relationships, and Ways to Cope with Loss. Camp Laurel is a place where volunteers can learn and grow personally and professionally. Many of our volunteers have returned year after year to keep building friendships with fellow volunteers and campers.

This year, we recognize COVID will have a huge effect on how our camp operates. We will be taking many precautions to ensure the health of all campers, volunteers, and staff including, requiring vaccinations for those 12+, requiring masks, testing upon arrival, and more!
