Situated in a mixed stand of lodgepole pine, mountain hemlock and Shasta red fir, Poole Creek campground hugs the west shore of Lemolo Lake, the highest reservoir on the North Umpqua River. This campground is popular with a variety of outdoor enthusiasts, offering fishing and hiking opportunities throughout much of the year and wildlife viewing during all seasons. The campground is located approximately 72 miles east of Roseburg, OR off Forest Road 2610 (Bird's Point Road).
Poole Creek campground consists of 60 campsites with picnic tables and fire pits, 1 group site, drinking water, 6 vault toilets, and a Boat ramp. The Lemolo Lake trail surrounds the lake and provides hiking/mtn biking opportunities for families staying there.
Camp Host Duties include the following: welcome visitors, answering questions about the local area, reminding visitors of campground rules such as keeping campsites clean and leashing pets, performing compliance checks, updating reservation sheets, and communicating visitor conflicts to Forest Service (FS) staff. Other host duties involve helping with occasional campground needs such as picking up litter, cleaning picnic tables, grills and firepits, restocking toilet paper and fee envelopes, and communicating maintenance problems with FS staff. Restrooms are cleaned by FS staff with assistance from the Campground Host. Volunteer must be able to bend, lift and walk comfortably. Ability to use tools such as rakes, brooms, pruners, and shovels is preferred but not required.
Hosts will be onsite and available for contact by the public at least 5 days a week, up to 8 hours per day. Actual shifts may vary and must coordinate with arrival of campers. Hosts will coordinate with FS staff regarding signing campsites for reservations and other day to day tasks, including when the hosts are taking days off for personal use.
