A Nights and Weekends volunteer house our dogs in advanced training (1-2.5 years old). The dogs receive care and training at our Charlottesville facility on weekdays - volunteers just need to drop-off and pick-up the dog. No experience necessary.

Nights and Weekends volunteer must attend volunteer class and have a home visit before a dog is placed. SDV covers all food, medicine, supplements, leash, collars, and vet care.

SDV requires all volunteers to be masked when at the facility and during group outings as well as complete a COVID-19 screening before attending class.

Description

Service Dogs of Virginia is a non-profit that raises and trains service dogs for people with disabilities. SDV relies on its dedicated group of volunteers that serve as night/weekends volunteers and puppy raisers to be able to place our dogs at no cost to our clients.

SDV trains and places dogs for physical assistance, young adults with Autism, PTSD for military and 1st responders, medical alert, and facility dogs.
