Volunteer United/AmeriCorps Seniors is a program of United Way that recruits volunteers for non-profit agencies in Martin County.
The mission of the organization where this opportunity is located is to provide gently used clothing and literacy skills at no cost, to children in need in Martin County.
Volunteers are needed to provide one-on-one literacy tutoring to elementary aged children in a school setting from November thru April. The students are performing at below grade level in one of 5 local Martin County Elementary schools. On average, each tutor works with two children individually in the classroom for approximately ONE HOUR AND THIRTY MINUTES, once a week during the school year. Bi-lingual volunteers a plus.
Training and all materials are provided. Volunteers must have transportation. Background check required prior to start of program. If you are interested in Fall 2022, please respond to this posting.
Physical requirements include standing and sitting.
