ORGANIZATION: U.S. Department of the Interior Bureau of Land Management

Opportunity for campground hosts from approximately the beginning of April 25 thru December 2, with an option to extend season.

Hosts typically volunteer 4-5 days a week, which will include weekends and holidays. A full season’s commitment is required but we are willing to work with you. A typical commitment is 5 to 8 hours per day. Hosts are on duty in both the morning and evening during daylight hours to greet visitors and to conduct compliance checks. The Volunteer Coordinator or Park Manager will coordinate with the host regarding the time of day to complete any maintenance duties. The host is not required to stay on site during days off. The schedule could vary depending on seasonal demands and needs. Willing to work with volunteers/hosts on days worked/hours per day.

Hosts must provide their own RV or camp trailer in which to live onsite; or be willing to commute to site daily. Pets may be permitted on a case by case basis but have to be approved ahead of time. Please note that all pets must be on a leash, including host pets, within the campground and day use area.

Reimbursement for incidental expenses (items paid out of pocket for living at the site and utilities) vary from $9.50 to $28.50 a day depending on site and amenities; vehicle mileage may be provided. Minimum two month commitment for reimbursement. You must keep a daily log of your work with completed hours.

Mission Statement

The Bureau of Land Management's mission is to sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations.

Description

The BLM manages 245 million acres of public lands and 700 million acres of mineral estate. These public lands and subsurface acres are integral to the lives and livelihoods of communities and families across the country. We promote multiple-use on public lands to maximize opportunities for commercial, recreational, and conservation activities.
