ORGANIZATION: HELPING THE BEHAVIORALLY CHALLENGING CHILD

Helping the Behaviorally Challenging Child (HBCC) is a California Nonprofit Public Benefit Corporation located in historic downtown Tustin. HBCC teaches a trauma-informed, evidence-based approach for helping children with behavioral challenges. Through caregiver training, support and referrals to clinical services, we promote the understanding that challenging youth lack the skill, not the will, to behave well. Unlike traditional models of discipline, HBCC teaches an approach that avoids the use of power, control and motivational procedures and instead focuses on teaching at-risk youth the skills they need to succeed using a collaborative, relationship-based, trauma-informed paradigm.

Almost 100% of our funding comes from individual donors as opposed to foundations or state and federal agencies. In 2022, our primary fundraising event will be a silent auction!

We are looking for one or two creative, self-motivated, energetic, reliable, and kind-hearted individuals to help us execute our event. Primary responsibilities include:
- creating an event plan for everything that needs to be done to hold a successful event
- helping to execute the event plan, including duties such as choosing an event theme, soliciting items for the auction, sending invitations, etc.

You will not be doing this alone (we'll try to recruit as much help as you need), but we are looking for someone to LEAD the charge and coordinate everyone's efforts.

If you do not want to lead the planning process, but would still like to help in some way, please let us know!

We look forward to hearing from you!

Mission Statement

Helping the Behaviorally Challenging Child in Tustin (HBCC) is a California Nonprofit Public Benefit Corporation that is composed of individuals who are committed to helping behaviorally challenging children lead more productive and inclusive lives.

Description

HBCC teaches a revolutionary, evidence-based approach for helping children with behavioral challenges. Through training, support and referrals to clinical services, we promote the understanding that challenging kids lack the skill, not the will, to behave well - specifically, skills related to problem solving, flexibility and frustration tolerance. Unlike traditional models of discipline, HBCC teaches an approach that avoids the use of power, control and motivational procedures and instead focuses on teaching at-risk, behaviorally challenging kids the skills they need to succeed.
