Catholic Charities Atlanta is seeking a Refugee Health Intern to assist refugee clients navigate various aspects of the healthcare system. This includes scheduling appointments, providing transportation to and from appointments, and being a companion and advocate for clients seeking healthcare.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of the American healthcare system
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Sensitivity to vulnerable populations
  • Excellent spoken language skills
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Openness to feedback provided by peers and supervisor(s)
  • Must be flexible
  • Reliable transportation
  • Willingness to work in a variety of in-person settings (CCA office, clients’ homes, doctors’ office, etc.)
  • Willingness to follow public health guidelines
  • Basic computer skills

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Bilingual (Pashto, Dari, Farsi, Arabic, Swahili, and/or Spanish preferred)
  • Relevant lived experience
  • Experience with and a passion for helping underserved communities

  • 18+ hours per week
  • The volunteer must be willing to complete a volunteer application packet, a full background check, including a driving record check and a reference check. as well as a 3-hour in-person VIRTUS Safe Environment training, and applicable training by CCA.
