Our new FRIENDLY CALLER program can be done from your home. Training is done for 1 hour on a zoom call or at a location around the Jacksonville Beaches area depending on your location.
The purpose of our Volunteer Friendly Callers is to enhance the quality of life of our DIAL A RIDE seniors passengers through supportive, friendly telephone calls to those who may be isolated or lonely.
Friendly callers will receive a list of names of the seniors and disabled adults who ride with our transportation program called DIAL A RIDE. These are adults in the Mayport, Atlantic Beach, Neptune Beach, Jacksonville Beach and Ponte Vedra Beach area that can no longer drive. The Friendly Caller will contact the rider to let them know we are doing wellness checks to make sure they are doing fine and if they have any needs besides transportation.
If so, we have an information coordinator that will direct our riders to a service that can fill their needs. The Friendly Caller is the connection to services. It's a way to let our seniors know we care about them. Each week you will spend 10 to 15 minutes catching up, and spending a bit of quality time with our riders. The time you call is based on a mutually convenient time for both you and the rider.

- Must be at least 18
- Orientation or Training
- About one hour per week. A minimum of 3 to 5 persons to call each week for approximately 10 - 15 minutes each.
- Must be a sensative listener, patient with seniors, ability to carry on a conversation on the telephone, can hear with ease, be positive, supportive and friendly.
