Volunteer Cook for Evening Community Meal

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: IDAHO FALLS RESCUE MISSION INC

As part of the Idaho Falls Rescue Mission's "Serving Hope" program, an evening community meal is served 365 days a year. This meal serves 60-100 per night, which includes IFRM's shelters (Ruth House and City of Refuge), the Crisis Center, and anyone in our community who needs a meal. Dinner needs to be ready by 5:30p.m. and is served from 6:00 - 6:30. The doors to the dining hall close at 7:00p.m.

Meals are prepared and served by volunteers and made with food which has been donated. Typically, volunteers will come in to the Mission 2-3 days before their shift to take a look at the pantry and freezer and create a meal based on what's available. We also have a full-time kitchen manager who is happy to assist volunteers through the entire process. Guests at the City of Refuge are responsible for kitchen cleanup.

We welcome anyone who has a desire to serve! To complete IFRM's online volunteer application, please visit: www.ifrescuemission.org and click "Get Involved"

Mission Statement

The Idaho Falls Rescue Mission exists to provide Help, Hope and a Future to the Hungry, Homeless and Hopeless in our community through the power and love of Jesus Christ. We are 100% community funded, meaning that we are not dependent on federal funding, and receive all of our financial support from local businesses and individuals just like You! At the Idaho Falls Rescue Mission, we believe that Everyone has something to offer to those around them! We encourage every person who walks through our doors to use the gifts, talents and abilities that they have been given to impact our community. We are so thankful for the generosity of this community, and for the opportunity to be a 'starting point for starting over' for so many here in Southeastern Idaho. Thank you for your support!

Description

The Idaho Falls Rescue Mission's focus is on the 'Three R's'- RESCUE, RECOVERY, and RESTORATION. The Idaho Falls Rescue Mission has two emergency shelters. The City of Refuge is our men's shelter. We strongly encourage our guests to be involved in our Works Program during their stay with us, as well as getting jobs, acquiring a vehicle if necessary and getting some savings established in order to go back out on their own. The Ruth House is our women's shelter, and this ministry exists to keep women off of the streets and helps them get back on their feet. Often times our guests come to us after a divorce or separation has left them without a place to stay, and our desire is to support them in a difficult season of their life.
