TJACH is seeking volunteer support for our annual Point-in-Time Count, a nation-wide project aimed at better understanding the size of scope of people experiencing homelessness and the need for shelter and housing.
On January 26th and 27th, we are looking for volunteer support to conduct brief interviews with people experiencing unsheltered homelessness (living outside or in a car, etc.). We will conduct these interviews at different service locations throughout the community and where people tend to congregate or sleep unsheltered.
You can view the times/locations where we need volunteer support through VolunteerMatch, as well as sign up for shifts.
We will be asking that all volunteers be vaccinated and wear masks at all times when volunteering.
We will hold virtual training sessions on the following dates:
- Thursday, January 20th 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM
- Friday, January 21st 3:00 PM to 4:30PM

TJACH aims to make homeless rare, brief, and non-recurring in our community.
Description
The Thomas Jefferson Area Coalition for the Homeless (TJACH) works to reduce homelessness by coordinating regional resources and services, as well as initiating creative solutions and facilitating collaboration between service providers.
TJACH is the HUD-designated coordinator of the Continuum of Care for the Charlottesville area (Virginia Planning District 10), supporting system improvement and collaboration to ensure a safety net for the homeless and very poor.
