IREAD USA is seeking a Treasurer

The IREAD USA board is recruiting a director to take on the Treasurer role. We would like to hear from people familiar with charity accounting and financial management. As our work is done in other countries and because we grant funds to other charities, knowledge of IRS guidelines that impact grant-making charities, particularly those that grant to charities outside the United States, is desired. IREAD USA is a 501(c)(3) charity, EIN 84-1917790.

Imagine your child starting elementary school never having seen a book. Studies show this puts children at a significant disadvantage during the most formative years of their lives. IREAD gives these most vulnerable children the chance to grow and develop through play and activity-based learning and an early start at building a brighter future. IREAD partners with local community leaders and NGOs in rural Uganda and Northern Pakistan to unlock the potential of children aged 3 to 6 most impacted by poverty. IREAD builds early childhood development centres (to date: 14 in Uganda and 13 in Northern Pakistan), develops ECD curriculum, trains teachers, and supports communities to operate and manage their ECD centre. Our 2022 plans for Uganda include building a further four ECD centres and collaborating with the Faculty of Education at Makerere University in Kampala to build the IREAD ECD Teacher Training College. Our work in Pakistan for 2022 will focus on delivering a multi-year project through Aga Khan University’s Institute for Educational Development that will train village women to teach ECD, and fit and furnish community spaces for classes.

If you are passionate about advancing early childhood education in Uganda and Pakistan, please introduce yourself by emailing dianne@iread.org . Prospects will be asked to submit a CV and to complete IREAD’s Board/Officer Profile & Competency Matrix.

Please visit www.iread.org/us to learn about our work and the people making it happen.
