Literacy Services of Wisconsin is seeking volunteers interested in tutoring citizenship students in preparation for their naturalization interview. Tutors will help students work on civics, and English language skills using the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) test for naturalization materials. Volunteer tutors will receive a thorough training on tutoring English Language Learners and about the U.S. naturalization process. Tutors may choose to work one-on-one with students or with small groups, in person or virtually.
Volunteer Requirements:
- Commitment to tutor for at least 6 months, once a week for 90 minutes
- Interest in U.S. history, government, and civics as well as English language acquisition
- Interest in learning about people from other countries and their experiences
- Must have valid email address, regular email access, and be comfortable using technology including Zoom
