Mentor Program Coordinator
Stella’s Girls Incorporated is a grassroots-based organization in Maryland, founded in 2016 to respond to the needs of girls and women in rural and developing countries. We are a research-based programmatic organization supporting young girls and women, age 12-30, through direct services including mentoring, social-emotional learning, coding, tutoring, and providing basic resources for the school. In addition to providing direct services, we work diligently for systemic change and contribute to the growing movement to end gender-based violence and fight for gender equality. Achieving Gender-Equality gives everyone equal opportunities and is good for marginalized racial groups.
Stella’s Girls believes that with the right opportunities and support, underserved and at-risk youth can overcome the circumstances of their environment and begin to heal and succeed. Under the supervision of the Chief Operating Officer, this position implements Stella’s Girls Mentoring Program Initiatives The Sunflower Project (TSP), and Journey to Manhood (JTM). The Mentor Program Coordinator recruits, screens, trains, matches, and supervises volunteer mentors. The Mentor Program Coordinator works with Stella’s Girls partners and direct services staff to identify mentor-mentee matches. Once the matches are made, the Mentor Program Coordinator provides guidance to volunteer mentors as they work to build supportive relationships with TSP and JTM mentees.
The Mentor Program Coordinator is responsible for the successful implementation of this grant, funded by the Department of Justice Office of Juvenile Justice Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP).
Additionally, The Mentor Program Coordinator assists with general volunteer efforts, conduct intakes for new Stella’s Girls participants, and supports the Community Center as needed.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implement Mentor Program and meet deliverables for OJJDP Mentoring Grant. 2. Recruit, screen, orient, and provide 12 hours of training to all incoming volunteer mentors. 3. Maintain a minimum of 50 mentee-volunteer matches in each county.
- Maintain human resource files for all mentors as well as records of current, pending, and past mentors.
- Provide ongoing support and supervision to mentors, specifically conduct at least once per month one-on-one supervision as well as ongoing responsiveness to mentor questions and concerns.
- Provide ongoing education workshops to mentors at least once per quarter throughout the year. 7. Work with Stella’s Girls direct services staff to identify youth for the program. 8. Outreach and communications to increase youth referrals.
- Respond to all youth referrals in a timely manner; conduct youth intake and paperwork; meet guardian when applicable
- Hold quarterly partner meetings with the Youth and Community Advisory Councils to monitor partner deliverables and invoices.
- Maintain documentation and tracking program deliverables, including those of partner agencies for semi-annual reporting.
- Conduct mentor mixers to facilitate new matches.
- Plan and implement events for matched youth and their mentors.
- Plan and hold an annual mentor appreciation event.
- Maintain and update program & outreach collateral.
- Annually, as part of supervision, develop a professional development plan identifying personal goals, objectives, and activities.
- Actively participate in supervision and staff training.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Stay abreast of best practices and the latest research related to mentoring for commercially sexually exploited youth.
- Recruit, screen, orient, and provide 8 hours of training to all incoming volunteers (in the same process as all mentors).
- Maintain human resource files for all Volunteers as well as documentation of current volunteers.
- Work with the Executive Assistant and Volunteer Coordinator to ensure all volunteers go into the salesforce database and to identify volunteer tasks.
▪ College degree in human services or business preferred relevant experience will be considered.
▪ Experience in developing and implementing programs required
▪ Experience administering programs required.
▪ Experience supervising volunteers or other individuals
▪ Experience facilitating training
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
▪ Sound judgment and the ability to supervise mentors in the field
▪ Excellent speaking and writing skills
▪ Knowledge of commercial sexual exploitation
▪ Ability to develop positive relationships with community volunteers and with youth ▪ Highly organized and collaborative
▪ Ability to take initiative, dependability, flexibility and resourceful
▪ Ability to function independently and as part of a team
▪ Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites, Google Docs/ Calendar and Internet usage.
▪ Able to work some evenings and weekends
▪ Current driver’s license, clean driving record along with cleared background check ▪ A criminal background check including fingerprint clearance
▪ Enthusiastic interest in supporting the mission of Stella’s Girls, Inc.

Stella's Girls was founded in 2016 to answer the call of a lack of education opportunities and resources for girls in Maryland, Japan, and Liberia. Since our beginning, we have served over 500 girls and women through our mentorship program, coding programs, personal development, advocacy training, and hygiene training. We also have representation in Nigeria, Uganda, Sierra Leone, and Ivory Coast.

We empower girls through our advocacy training and opportunities to represent us at seminars and conferences.
We help girls become leaders by offering leadership training and connecting them to mentors in their fields.
Our goal is to help increase the number of female leaders by 2050. We also support thee 2030 United Nations 2030 Sustainable Goals.
