Welcome to the Fresh Start Farms Mobile Market program. We are so grateful for your interest and desire to help bring food access to our communities!

What is ORIS and Fresh Start Farms?

(ORIS) is an ethnic community-based organization located in southern New Hampshire. Our flagship program is Fresh Start Farms, a sustainable agriculture project that seeks to end food insecurity in southern NH. Our
refugee farmer participants grow, sell and promote affordable, nutrient-dense produce.

What is the mobile market?
Our Mobile Market Program is a farm stand on wheels that delivers food to the places that need it most. It serves as a link between New Hampshire farmers and the communities with limited access to locally-grown produce and healthy food. Instead of consumers commuting to the farm, farmer’s market, or even a grocery store, the mobile market travels directly into communities to make food more accessible and affordable.

Am I a good fit for this volunteer opportunity?
If you enjoy being outside, creating an organized and welcoming environment, and being kind and helpful to customers, supporting the operation of the mobile market is for you! Your presence will allow for customers to feel supported and welcomed as they shop.

What does a typical shift look like?
  • Arriving 15 minutes early to the mobile market site
  • Setting up payment tables, signs, and produce displays
  • Assisting customers as they shop, refilling produce
  • Maintaining safe and clean shopping environment
  • Handing out recipe cards and other resources
  • Breaking down displays and tables, and packing up produce
Things to note:
  • Volunteers are expected to participate in a volunteer orientation and training (most likely in April)
  • Personal transportation to the sites is required for this position
The mobile market will be operating from May/June - October on Wednesday-Friday in Concord, Manchester, and Nashua, making 9 stops per week.
