BCAUSEICAN is looking for a volunteer who can help assist with the social media and marketing duties of the organization. This position should be familiar with social media platforms (ie. Instagram, Twitter, Facebook) and able to learn how to use various social media management tools. This position will work closely with the Executive Director and Marketing Manager, as well as communicate with the Program Managers. This position is remote and will require about 3-5 hours per week.

Duties will include posting on social media, editing videos, and managing our Youtube videos.


Skills:

  • 1-2 years -Experience with social media platforms

  • Experience with Google Drive and Google Workspace a plus

  • Experience with Digital Media/ Editing (preferred). Familiar with Youtube a plus

  • Able to work as a team member and collaborator


BCAUSEICAN has a mission to provide programs and services to underserved communities. The leading program is the BCAUSEICANCODE curriculum, which provides the instruction of coding concepts, terminology and skills to begin the art of coding for grades K-12. We currently focus on schools in Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia (the DMV as it is known to locals). With the impacts of COVID-19, the need for online teaching has grown tremendously. And the need to teach children how to use computers is more important than ever.

Description

BCAUSEICAN conducts computer literacy and financial literacy classes. The computer literacy classes focuses on developing the techniques and skills to support STEM by introducing students to the basics of coding. The computer literacy classes target youth from 6-12. The financial literacy classes focuses on stock market education. The students learn the terminology and concepts of the stock market and eventually learn to simulate day trading. The financial literacy classes target middle school to high school students. We have been conducting classes for 2 years in the SHAW Community in NW Washington, DC.
