Scientific Adventures for Girls (SAFG) is looking for High School students to volunteer in our after school STEM classes. If you are passionate about engaging our next generation of scientists - we would love to have you! All classes are fun, hands-on and designed to inspire girls to love STEM!

Near Peers will engage elementary-aged girls and support hands-on STEM activities in-person at public schools in the East Bay (Berkeley, Emeryville, Oakland, Richmond).

We are asking for a commitment of 3 hours one-time a week from January 18 to May 30. After school hours are M-F from approximately 2 - 5:30 depending on the school.

If interested, please email careers@scientificadventures.org with your availability and reason for your interest.

Mission Statement

Scientific Adventures for Girl's mission is to remove systemic barriers to all girls’ participation in STEM starting in transitional kindergarten, engage them through hands-on learning, increase their positive attitudes toward STEM, and equip them with 21st century skills.

Description

Scientific Adventures for Girls (SAFG), a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization, provides after school and summer STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) programs to young children with a special focus on girls and disadvantaged youth. SAFG's goals are to increase positive attitudes toward STEM in TK-6th grade female students and to increase hands-on learning opportunities for girls everywhere (including in economically marginalized areas) to explore STEM concepts and encourage lifelong learning of STEM subjects. If you are a female in a STEM field, you can meet with one of our classes, share your story about what you do and how you got interested in your field and do a fun project if you choose.
