ORGANIZATION: LA Compost



QUICK OVERVIEW

Want to support the growing compost community in LA? Volunteer at our Sunday Food Scraps Drop-off event in Elysian Valley. Volunteers will engage with community members as they drop off materials, and guide them through drop-off procedures.

IMPACT

You will help LA Compost collect food scraps from over 200 unique households diverting their food waste.

Our team member(s) will be onsite throughout the day. Volunteers should be prepared to be standing up most of the time, however, sitting will be available. No prior composting experience is necessary.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIESVOLUNTEER

Will be trained and briefed on-site the day of.

Engage with community members as they drop off materials, guide them through new procedures if they are unfamiliar, and monitor for contamination.

Answer questions about compost sales if they arise.

REQUIREMENTS

Comfort standing and remaining moderately active throughout the vent.

ACCESSIBILITY

Moderate physical activity.

No bathrooms available onsite, we can direct you to a nearby business to take a break.

Description

AT A COMPOST HUB

Is turning and sifting a compost pile calling your name? You can help make the composting magic happen by helping to maintain one of our compost hubs through out LA.

Mild to moderate physical activities. Yes, you'll get a little dirty.

No prior experience necessary.

Opportunities across the city, multiple times a week.

AT A FARMERS' MARKET

Engage with community members as they drop off materials, guide them through new procedures if they are unfamiliar, and monitor for contamination. Answer questions about compost sales if they arise. Will be trained and briefed on site the day of.

Our team member will be onsite to moving filled bins and attending to other tasks. Our compost community has done an excellent job so far of respecting space, wearing masks, and staying safe. Volunteers should be prepared to be standing up for the majority of the time, however sitting will be available.

No prior compost experience is necessary.
