Join our Communications Team!

Are you interested in ethical and sustainable fashion and anti-human trafficking? If so, The Fashion Connection (TFC) would like to hear from you! TFC is creating a plethora of new resources for leaders in the U.S. ethical and sustainable fashion movement which are launching in 2022. We are looking for a few additional folks to join us on the journey! You'll have the chance to connect with leaders in this space, learn more about challenges and opportunities in building a more socially conscious fashion industry, expand your network, and get great mentorship from others on TFC's team.

About TFC

TFC is new, volunteer-run nonprofit empowering members of the United States ethical and sustainable fashion community by creating connections across the field, promoting conscious consumption, and producing solutions to industry issues.

As a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit with a national scope, we are uniquely poised to support knowledge-building initiatives and critical advocacy endeavors. We recently released "Ethical Fashion and Anti-Human Trafficking: A Guide for Communication and Engagement" to help brands, designers, and consumers engage in the fight against human trafficking and unethical fashion, and we will be updating the Guide this year.

Our Open Volunteer Roles

1) As our Communications Strategist, you'll develop and execute big picture communications strategies and drive communications to meet the Communications Team’s goals for the year. This is an incredibly exciting role with the chance to dramatically shape TFC and the ethical/sustainable fashion field. In applying for this role, please share at least two examples of ways you have developed and implemented communications strategies with other organizations, including digital strategies.

What you will do:

· Develop a 2022 communications strategy to advance 2022 strategic planning goals

· Liaise with Executive Director, Board of Directors, and other members of our Communications Team to advance the execution of the 2022 communications strategy

· Support Communications Team selection, training, and execution

· Evaluate progress of 2022 execution and tweak strategy, as needed

· Develop plans for 2023 onward, in line with evolving organizational goals

2) As our Community Connectivity Strategist, you have a demonstrated understanding of Internet forum best practices and you are proficient in navigating a Squarespace website.

What you will do:

· Update our Squarespace website and related to appropriately update to foster community connectivity

· Use knowledge of the broader ethical/sustainable fashion industry, other players in this space, and human trafficking to develop a strategy for community connectivity, liaising with the Executive Director and Communications Team

· Ensure TFC Platform users are connecting with TFC through our Platform, regularly evaluating usage and tweaking strategies to expand Platform usage

3) As our Digital Content Leader, you have strategic ideas and a demonstrated understanding of the broader ethical/sustainable fashion industry, other players in this space, and human trafficking.

What you will do:

· Use understanding of the broader ethical/sustainable fashion industry, other players in this space, and human trafficking to develop and execute on strategies for posts and create written content

· Regularly draft posts with engaging content from partners to be posted to TFC’s Platform

· Offer suggestions for the types of content we should be producing, based on latest happenings related to ethical/sustainable fashion

3) As our Digital Content Expert on Twitter, you have a demonstrated understanding of Twitter best practices and you can tailor messaging from other social media platforms for optimal visibility and reach on Twitter.

What you will do:

· Use understanding of Twitter best practices to create a TFC profile and Twitter strategy

· Follow and retweet content that maximizes TFC’s visibility on Twitter

· Consolidate TFC’s messaging on other platforms to make it appropriate for sharing on Twitter

· Follow Twitter best practices to draft posts that achieve optimal reach on Twitter

4) As our Digital Content Support Specialist, you are familiar with the broader ethical/sustainable fashion industry, other players here, and the human trafficking spaces and you can draft engaging content to be shared across various social media platforms. The individual filling this role will support an existing Communications Team with time-sensitive and short notice projects, ensuring that we are an up to speed organization appropriately engaging around current events and enjoying the excitement here.

What you will do:

· Have the exciting role of crafting content based on recent events and new happenings, potentially with short notice and short turnaround times

· Draft posts with engaging content from partners to be posted to TFC’s Platform

· Create and sends listserv messages
