We need enthusiastic members of our community to help our board move into our next exciting growth period. Our goal is to reach as many girls in the Sacramento Region as possible and that is why we are reaching out to you to help us find enthusiastic, creative and passionate candidates to make it happen. We are especially in need of board members in Davis, CA, Folsom, CA, Roseville, CA and El Dorado Hills, CA.

Girls on the Run is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams. In 2022, we served 670 girls, and with the help of our generous sponsors and donors, we were able to provide financial assistance to 45% of our girls who otherwise would not have been able to participate. Our board is dedicated to increasing access to the Girls on the Run programs for ALL girls (regardless of physical ability or financial situation). Our council has one full time staff and one part time staff. We rely on our talented and dedicated board to share their talents and networks so we can move our council forward as we continue to grow and provide programming for more girls in our region.

We are currently recruiting for several current and soon-to-be open board positions and are looking for passionate individuals to join our team and help us inspire more girls in the Greater Sacramento area. Since the majority of our teams are located in Sacramento County, most of our board members are too. As we add more teams to our surrounding counties, a priority of our council is to diversify our board, which means reaching out to new contacts in our region to ensure our board reflects the girls in our program and community at large - diverse, strong, committed, resilient, optimistic and hard working.

We are actively searching for candidates in Yolo, Placer and El Dorado Counties. Board experience is not required, just a dedication to empowering girls, an interest in giving back to your community and a willingness to share your network and talents. Specific qualities, including grant writing, fundraising, fund development, relationship building, event planning, human resources experience, and project management, are what would take our board to the next level. Our board is a working board. We meet for approximately two hours every other month. Board members can expect to work approximately 5-10 hours a month, sometimes more depending on the board position or council activities (celebratory 5K, fundraising opportunities, community outreach, etc.).

If you know someone dedicated to and passionate about making a difference in the life of a girl, please consider sharing this with them.
