Prior tax experience is not necessary. Free Training is Provided! Tax Preparer volunteers prepare and file taxes with eligible taxpayers using IRS TaxWise software.

  • Tax site hours: Tuesdays & Thursdays are from 3pm-8pm.Volunteers are respectfully requested to volunteer at the JVS tax site at least 4 hours per week (one shift) starting from late January and continuing through April 11th.
  • All new volunteers will take an online training. The training focuses on tax law, the correct usage of reference materials, software training, tax return practice, and the IRS certification exam. All Volunteers (new and returning) must pass the IRS Basic Tax Preparation certification exam to volunteer.
  • Dinner is provided to all volunteers for each shift during tax season!
