Learning Ally is working to solve the literacy problem - the 65% of students who are not proficient in reading by 4th grade. Our volunteers help us create accessible education tools and support us in serving over 1.6 million students and 260,000 educators across the U.S.
The volunteer role: Learning Ally is committed to diversity and inclusion and we focus heavily on equity in our organization, in our partnerships, and in how we work with communities to meet the needs of our students. As a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Casting Reviewer, you are performing an important task in helping to maintain Learning Ally’s library of books used by students across the country.
DEI Casting Reviewers will support Learning Ally in revisiting about 500 books that are already part of Learning Ally’s library. Casting Reviewers will listen to the books just like our students do, and check that narration is well-cast, diverse, equitable, and inclusive. This work will help our staff to evaluate the recordings we offer and to ensure that students will continue to have access to high-quality books each month.

Mission Statement
Our vision is for all people to have equal opportunities to learn. Our mission is to promote personal achievement when access and reading are barriers to learning by advancing the use of accessible and effective educational solutions.
Description
Today, more than 30 million students struggle to read. By fourth grade, 65% of them are reading below proficiency. With early detection and proven accommodations, we can make strides in alleviating these detrimental consequences. Learning Ally is a leading nonprofit education solutions organization that transforms the lives of early and struggling learners through proven solutions from Pre-K through high school, to help students reach their potential.
We understand that all people learn differently and may need options to achieve their full potential. We are dedicated to helping individuals grow and succeed academically when access and reading are barriers to their learning. We will succeed by partnering with our communities and being a champion for those we serve so they may have the most accessible and effective solutions to achieve their personal best.
