On February 19th a tree give-a-way will take place at Homeownership Center Northwest in Tacoma.
This unique event will provide up to 100 trees to local residents, mostly from low-income communities.
The event will provide information, training, assistance, workshops designed to help homeowners with
knowing what trees to select that can enhance the property as well as reduce storm water runoff, create
shade in the summer. Workshops include creating rain gardens, reducing high maintenance lawns with sustainable plantings that require less watering as ell as assistance available from partner sponsors.
This unique event brings together Pierce Conservation, City of Tacoma, Tacoma Tree Foundation and the Homeownership Center Tacoma Northwest.
We need volunteers to assist with set up on Friday February 18th and on the event day Saturday February 19th.
We welcome additional support on the "Branch Out" committee that meets on Thursdays, virtually.

The Homeownership Center of Tacoma Northwest (HCHW) is a 28+-year-old, community-based nonprofit corporation whose mission is to foster neighborhood revitalization through homeownership, provide free ongoing financial counseling and offer supportive resources to our community. HCT builds quality new homes, refurbishes existing homes, and makes homeownership affordable by providing a no-interest, no-payment second mortgage that ensures monthly payments are tailored to the household’s income instead of the purchase price of the home. HCT offers this unique financing program throughout the Pacific Northwest for homes that we have constructed or refurbished, to modest-income home buyers that have not owned a home during the past three years. We also offer free homebuyer, education classes. We have successfully matched over 200+ homes with individuals and families. We are just beginning. Join Us!

Established in 1993, the Homeownership Center of Tacoma has offer financial counseling services, resources and support to thousands of individuals and families. HCNW has placed over 200+ low and moderate-income people in homeownership opportunities within the Pacific Northwest. To do so, HCNW offers multiple levels of financial counseling, constructs and renovates single-family & multi-family homes, offers financial literacy classes, homeownership counseling, life-safety repair grants for existing homeowners, financing assistance to qualified homebuyers.
