Recruiting Organization: Most Mira

The organisation

Most Mira means Bridge of Peace, and that is what we do - we help to build bridges between divided communities in Bosnia especially in the rural Northwest. Most Mira brings together children and young people to learn new skills, make friends across ethnicities, and celebrate diversity to help build a peaceful future

We do that through youth arts festivals, theatre workshops, peace building visits and tours and architectural workshops. Our aim is to grow and diversify our range of creative and inclusive activities for young people and establish a permanent hub, a Peace Center in Kevljani village near Prijedor.

The position

We are looking for people with a background in journalism, web design, communications and/or media studies who can formulate a communications plan to build our social media presence. We have Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Linked in accounts to manage and want to set up a schedule to start posting regularly.

With support from the Charity Coordinator, Communications Volunteers develop and implement a communications plan for the next two years while we fundraise to build the Peace Center. We hope to start a quarterly newsletter which we use to highlight our work.

We are always open to new ideas and suggestions, so there is room for you to use your own creativity in this position! A key to success in this role is to be highly motivated, self-directed and results driven. There are no set office hours.

Essential:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Relevant studies or work experience in marketing, public relations, advertising, journalism or similar areas
  • Interest in our work at Most Mira and in our mission
  • Highly motivated, self-directed and results-driven
  • Able to adapt ideas to various communication channels
  • Able to work to deadlines
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
  • An understanding of social media
  • Creativity
  • We hope that volunteers will be able to commit to at least a three month placement of 3-4 hours per week.

Desirable:

  • Experience in writing reports and/or newsletters
  • Experience in website maintenance and layout design
  • Photography skills
  • Fluent in Bosnian, Serbian or Croatian.

People whose lives have been affected by the war in BiH have an important voice in the work we do and are particularly encouraged to apply.

The benefits of volunteering with us

In return for your participation in our volunteering programme, Most Mira will provide:

  • An induction to the organisation and its programmes, and to the Communications Volunteer role
  • Monthly supervision and regular check-ins
  • The chance to be a part of a diverse and dedicated team and a welcoming community
  • A letter confirming your volunteer service, on successful completion.

If you would like to apply, please send a CV/resume and a detailed cover letter explaining why you feel you would be suitable for the position.
