ORGANIZATION: It's a Sensory World!

We are a non-profit center for children with special needs! Our center is made of many moving pieces. We have an academy program that runs like a regular school program. We also have an after school program with many enriching activities such our social skills programs, 1:1 sensory circuits, and aftercare! We need assistance with items around our center such as preparing materials for our teachers, assisting our director and executive director with organizational skills, assisting in classrooms and the sensory gym, and more! We are looking for as many volunteers as possible! Some throughout the day in the morning and afternoon. Shifts are available! You can volunteer one time or we can create a consistent weekly schedule for you. Either way, we appreciate you! If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Bailey Parker at baliey@itsasensoryworld.org

Description

Who Are We?

It’s a Sensory World! is a center that offers a variety of multi-sensory educational, recreational, and therapeutic services for children with special needs and their families. Our unique programs bridge the gap between therapy and mainstream education and recreation.

Why Are We Different?

  • When we first opened in October 2007, we were the only center offering services supplemental to therapy in North Texas and one of only two in the country. We are the only center where parent empowerment is a central part of our mission.

  • We are the only center in North Texas that offers these unique bridge programs all in one center.

  • We have a large therapeutic gym which is typically only found in a therapy setting. Our gym is unique because it is open to the public, and we use it to provide the students enrolled in our many programs with the intense sensory input they need.

  • We have a unique, child-centered approach which blends multiple disciplines, including speech and language, sensory integration, behavior modification and special education.
