Mission Statement
Best Buddies International is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment, leadership development, and inclusive living for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
Description
Best Buddies Massachusetts (BBMA) has been in operation since 1996 working to enrich the lives of youth and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) through our Friendship program, Jobs program, and Leadership Development program. In 2010, we served over 4,400 participants. To date, we have nearly doubled that number, serving 7,500 direct program participants throughout the state.
Best Buddies Rhode Island (BBRI) has been in operation since 2010 and is now impacting the lives of over 1,300 individuals with and without IDD through our Friendship program, and Leadership Development program.
In 2018, BBMA and BBRI merged in an effort to combine resources to ensure continued growth and increase opportunities for expansion in both states. Due in large part to our local Advisory Board members, dedicated volunteers, generous donors, foundation support, and a team of extremely devoted staff, we have expanded our efforts in order to serve individuals with and without IDD in every county of Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
