Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service in Solano County
Monday, January 17th, 2022
While many see Martin Luther King Jr. Day as a day off, we see it as a "day on." It's an opportunity to start your year in the spirit of volunteerism and service, continuing the legacy Dr. King, who spent his life working to better the lives of others.
Join us in making #MLKDay a day "on" by participating in one or more of these volunteer opportunities happening in Solano County during the month of January:
Host a Voter Registration Drive Over MLK Weekend of Service
Honor the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. and play a role in creating MLK's beloved community by helping to protect one of the core pillars in his fight for civil rights: access to the polls for all Americans.
Join When We All Vote and host a voter registration drive in your community during the MLK weekend of service: January 14th - 17th.
Download this PDF to learn how to Plan, Register, and Host your voter registration event.
For more information, visit the When We All Vote website.
Volunteer with the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano
Please join the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano on Monday, January 17, 2022, for our Day of Service to honor Martin Luther King Jr. by serving people in need in our community. Families with children as young as five years old are invited to bag or box fresh produce at our warehouse.
For more information, visit the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano website.
Clear Wreaths at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetary
Join us on Saturday, January 15 2022 at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetary to clear the Rememberance Wreaths from the graves of our country's fallen heros.
This clean-up day starts at 7:30 AM. All ages are welcome to help clear the boughs. No sign up is required - simply park nearest the section you'd like to help with and begin! If you want to work with a partner, bring a dowel or pole to string the wreaths on for easy pick up. Boughs are moved out to the curb and picked up by the garbage truck.

Mission Statement
We know that passion alone isn't enough when it comes to creating strong nonprofits. That's why we work with aspiring and established leaders every day to help them build the skills and connections that can take their impact to the next level. With confident and prepared leaders, our nonprofits will be better equipped to create healthy, happy communities. CVNL has engaged individuals in volunteerism continuously for more than 50 years and expanded to Napa county in July 2014. Every day, passionate individuals like you dedicate their work to advancing our communities, vulnerable populations, natural landscapes, and cultural institutions. But without the critical know-how in operational essentials like fundraising, board governance, and volunteer recruitment, their causes may fall short of their potential. CVNL brings local leaders the expert guidance and professional resources they need to build resilient, impactful organizations.
