Plum Orchard is an 1898 Classical Revival mansion built by Lucy Carnegie for her son, George Carnegie and his wife, Margaret Thaw that was donated to the National Park Service in the 1970s. Plum Orchard offers a glimpse into Edwardian High Society at the turn of the 20th century and the importance pf recreation, indulgence, and rejuvenation in nature.

Plum Orchard Docents provide detailed 45 minute tours through the property to the public up to 3 times per day. They perform light maintenance such as sweeping, dusting, and vacuuming in down times. This position requires on-site housing on Cumberland Island National Seashore.
