ICAN

Fridays are Club Days at ICAN, allowing the kids to have an opportunity to pick from the available activities. This is the perfect opportunity to showcase our volunteers’ unique talents and interests, providing them the chance to teach the youth through short workshops. This could look like hosting a sports clinic or a specialized STEAM activity for a group of approximately 15-18 youth. We encourage those who want to share their passion - be it basketball, watercolors, or coding - with the next generation of leaders.

We may or may not be able to provide the supplies, but if it is an uncommon activity, we ask that you or your group/organization supply the required materials. We typically divide our club options into grades K-3 or 4-6. Our volunteer coordinator is available to help you plan a successful Club Friday!

Available Hours: 3:35-4:45, every Friday.

This is a perfect option for one-time or occasional volunteers who are ready to lead an hour-long activity.

About ICAN

Location:

650 East Morelos Street, Chandler, AZ 85225, US

Mission Statement

ICAN’s Mission is to provide free, comprehensive programs that empower youth to be productive, self-confident, and responsible members of the community.

Description

ICAN is a high-quality, out-of-school-time program that empowers youth to be accountable for their futures. Founded to provide nurturing guidance to and activities for Chandler youth, ages 5 - 18, ICAN offers after-school and summer/intersession programs which foster positive attitudes while discouraging destructive behavior.

Participants in our programs achieve significant, positive lifestyle changes including, gains in leadership, social competency skills and self-confidence. These new found skills enable ICAN youth to resist the pressure to use alcohol, tobacco and other drugs as well as provide a positive alternative to violence and gang-related activities.

While the majority of our participants are from Chandler, youth from other areas of the Valley are welcome to participate. All program services and activities are free of charge including transportation to and from our location (within the Chandler area) and healthy snacks for all program participants.
