Milwaukee Pets Alive isn’t just another rescue. We are here to shape rescue. Give of your special skills and talents and join us in this very unique role as a volunteer Embroider! There’s never been a better time to volunteer with us if you are looking to be a part of something bigger than yourself - help us as we work towards building a sanctuary so we can serve even MORE special animals and make SE WI No Kill! This is a monumental undertaking and we are looking for TEAMMATES to make this vision a reality!

In serving a special needs and considerations population, we care for many animals who are aged, who have chronic medical conditions, as well as those who have acute ones.

Part of loving and caring for any lives - special needs and considerations or not - is that they do pass from our physical presence when our Lord decides it’s their time to come home. This can be an incredibly difficult, heartbreaking, devastating, lonely, and empty time for the humans they leave behind who loved them so.

One of the comforts we give to all of our MPA animals when they enter our program are brand new soft blankies of their very own to not only use while they are in foster care, but to keep and take with them when they are adopted (or to stay with them if they stay in our forever foster program).

Blankies of their own allow our animal to have a warm, safe, and secure place to snuggle up as they make the difficult adjustment to a new home - whether that be entering our program initially and into their new foster home, or into an adoptive home (change is difficult for animals - even when it is a positive situation like being adopted, or entering the safety of our foster program!). Territory is everything to animals, so even after they’ve settled in, those same blankies are a constant and familiar place to enjoy without a care - because it’s theirs with their scent on it! A blanket is such a seemingly insignificant article, but is so important to our animals after the difficulties and upheaval so many have been through in their life to get to our care.

These same blankets that bring such joy to our animals here on earth, often do the same for their humans as a sweet memory every time they see, touch, or feel the blankie their beloved companion would spend time on napping or playing, should their furry family member pass away.

Most homes are filled with blankets - belonging to humans or even other animals. We would like to provide a way for our humans that care for our MPA family members (fosters, adopters, and even volunteers who played a special role in the lives of MPA animals they cared for) to have a special, lasting keepsake of some of their warmest memories of their MPA kitty or doggy - and always know which blankie was theirs - by embroidering the name of that special animal on their blanket when they become an angel.

We are looking for one volunteer who has the skill, talent, and equipment to machine embroider (not hand embroider) the name of an MPA animal on their blanket any time one of them gets their wings as a way to provide lasting comfort to that MPA family. Embroidery experience required. Volunteer should be located in the Milwaukee Metro Area as one of our volunteers would be bringing you the blankets needing to be embroidered so we’d like the Embroidery Volunteer to be geographically close for ease in us doing so.

Volunteer tasks are done around the volunteer’s own schedule - when it’s convenient for you - morning, day, or night.

The right individual will strongly believe in our mission, vision, and core values and have a sincere interest in elevating our organization, and growing with us (so commitment and dedication are important).

We are an entirely volunteer-run rescue. Everything you see was created and accomplished by a volunteer! We have no employees, so all volunteers should be self-motivated, be a self-starter with initiative, drive, ambition, are able to work independently, and follow through on their commitments. One of the general qualities we are looking for in any teammate in this rescue are those who are "Go-givers" - people who want to make a difference in the world and for others and know the greatest impact we make is usually not the work we are paid to do in our 9-5, but that what we choose to do because in our hearts, we want to make others’ time on this planet easier and better! MPA is looking for a volunteer to fill this role who recognizes the importance of working on behalf of the special animals we serve and will work hard for them as they are counting on us to save their lives!

When every person does a little to make a difference, together, we make change. Reaching as many people as possible to let them know we’re here and the important work we are doing for an important population of animals that have no one else but us is directly proportionate to what we can achieve, and the number of animals we can save. Milwaukee Pets Alive (MPA) is an all-volunteer, No Kill, 501c3 special needs and considerations rescue that focuses on saving those local animals in southeast Wisconsin that have been passed over by, would not be accepted into, or would be killed by other rescues and shelters because of their needs and considerations and would have no other option for life except for through our organization. These animals may be shy, scared, under-socialized, injured, aged, differently-abled, have medical needs, or need extra resources - all deserve the chance to be loved and cherished. And all deserve time, understanding, patience, and good, comprehensive veterinary care to help them get happy, healthy, and reach their highest potential. Their lives are important.

Our mission, through our work aforementioned and through comprehensive programs and resources to educate and help community members help the animals in their own lives (thereby preventing more animals from entering the shelter system), is to end the killing of homeless companion animals in southeast WI. The population we rescue comprises those that continue to die in the greatest numbers in our community.

Our vision is for southeast WI to be one of the safest communities in the United States for companion animals.

We couldn’t help these special animals of our community that we do if not for the wonderful people who volunteer their time and talents!
