Recruiting Organization: Habitat for Humanity GTA
Habitat for Humanity GTA is currently expanding our build CREW and are recruiting crew volunteers to assist in the building of homes at various locations within the service area of our Affiliate. This position is ideal for retirees, recent graduates who are seeking practical experience or anyone who is interested in learning about the construction trade, excited about giving back to their community, or for just the love of swinging a hammer.
Location: 8600 TORBRAM ROAD BRAMPTON - Women’s Build Event
Hours: 30hrs/week . Flexible, some weekends required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Works closely with Crew Leaders and Site Supervisors in a supportive role to promote an exemplary volunteer experience and sustain volunteer build productivity.
- Their major duties include, but not limited to: welcome and orient volunteers, assist in gearing them up, pulling out/preparing needed equipment in advance of volunteers’ arrival, enforce safety, assist Crew Leaders as they coach volunteers to use tools, perform tasks and follow safety standards, participate in the build process, promote build site productivity by practicing good housekeeping, motivating volunteers, and behaving as ambassadors for the Habitat mission.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Completion of Ontario Secondary School (or equivalent) is required.
- Must possess a strong ability to speak, write, read and understand English.
- Must secure own transportation to and from the job site.
Preferred Skills
- Background or experience in Architectural Engineering/Design, Construction Trades and/or Volunteer Engagement are an asset.
- Knowledge of Habitat for Humanity’s mission and values are also assets.
- Strong skills in the areas of verbal communication, motivation and teamwork, the ability to multi-task and remain calm in stressful situations.
