Mentor for Youth- Virtual
GDS is a nonprofit organization that runs a unique multifaceted program for children teens and families. GDS is looking for youth workers and/or mental health counselors.
Growth and Development Services is very proud of its broad base of volunteers. Our volunteers are a unique group of caring individuals. Volunteers receive extensive training and support. GDS' volunteers are culturally and professionally diverse, sharing a common goal to "Help Young People Reach Their Potential".

Qualifications: Pursuing a career in being a youth workers, or Youth Work Career, Masters in Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, or Doctorate in Psychology or other related studies.
Supervision: Gary Altheim, Psy.D., Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Director of Programs
Commitment: Minimum, a semester, two days per week; Monday-Friday.

Responsibilities:
(If selected a curriculum will be devised that will best complement the skills of the volunteer with the needs of the agency.)
- attend mentorship training
- help the mentee solve his or her own problem, rather than give direction;
- Receive virtual training as a counselor/youth worker
- Help plan and lead therapeutic, educational, and recreational activities during virtual group activities
- Collaborate with community agencies
- Work with licensed psychologist,
- Evaluate anecdotal, empirical, and psychological program outcome tools
- Help develop program outcome measuring tools
