Tutors provide weekly, one-to-one English language instruction for adult immigrants or refugees who speak one of over 50 languages spoken in Chester County. Tutors must be available for a one-year commitment to tutoring. Prior teaching experience is not required. Life experience, time, and compassion for helping others is a plus!
Tutors and students alike are adults who represent all ages, backgrounds, and interests. These partnerships open doors to many life-changing opportunities for both students and tutors.
VEP professional staff will prepare you to work remotely or in person with an English Language Learner (ELL) at any level of proficiency. Tutor and student will decide whether to start virtually or in person. The goal is to eventually meet in person when both parties feel it is safe enough to do so. Prior teaching experience or fluency in a language other than English is not required.
