Baan Dek Foundation (BDF) is a non-profit, non-political, and non-religious organization based in Bangkok and Chiang Mai. BDF provides access to education, health and safety services to more than 2,000 vulnerable children living in urban slums and construction site camps in Thailand. Through its direct service provision programs and systemic impact strategy, BDF protects and empowers marginalized children and their families to become more self-sustainable and provide opportunities for a better future.
Job Description
Job Title: Technical Advisor or Social Work (Volunteer)
Type of Contract: Full-time volunteer position, 6 months to 1 year (with possibility of
extension). and internships are possible to arrange, and a certificate can be awarded at the end of the volunteer’s mission)
Department: Impact and Innovation
Location: Chiang Mai and Bangkok, Thailand (with possible occasional trips)
Expected Start Date: ASAP
Responsibilities
This position will work within the Impact and Innovation Team at BDF, under the direct supervision of the Impact and Innovation Coordinator and or Manager, based in Chiang Mai and Bangkok, with oversight from the Impact and Innovation Coordinator and or Manager and Executive Director , based in Bangkok. The main responsibilities of this role include the following:
Role and responsibilities include - but are not restricted to:
- Together with the Impact and Innovation team, contribute to the development and Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) of BDF programs depending on the needs on field, especially Child protection and Individual support program, mainly:
- Program design and coordination
- Research and preparation of life skill and educational content and curriculum
- Develop guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures
- Support team training of field implementation staff
- Develop monitoring systems
- Data entry and analysis for program monitoring
- Support implementation of local programs developed by Baan Dek Foundation: educational activities designed to support mostly migrant communities working on construction sites
- Support the Partnerships Team by developing Letters of Intent (LOIs), proposals or concept notes to support funding for BDF projects. and Produces donor reports and collaborates across teams to gather and include relevant inputs and necessary data into each report.
Other:
- Support in the promotion of a constructive and productive working environment among the team. Actively support information sharing, transparency, and dialogue among the staff and with beneficiaries of all projects.
Requirements
Nationality: Native English speaker
Qualifications:
- Experience as a social worker or experience related to development or social work
- Ability to understand family situations and conduct assessments
- Experience in interviewing, counseling, and case management considered an asset
- Experience in project coordination, research, or creation of organizational /instructional tools considered an asset
- Experience in developing evidence-based programs, educational content, or Monitoring & Evaluation systems considered an asset
- Experience with non-profit organizations or in the humanitarian sector will also be strongly considered
- Proficiency in MS Office and/or Google Workspace (Formerly G Suite)
- Knowledge of CRM software (e.g. Salesforce) is an asset
- Highly motivated to bring innovative solutions, to lead and to create a social impact
- The ideal candidate should be highly motivated and creative, as well as flexible and independent in their work ethic.
Experience working with children (or for an organization that supports children) is considered an asset. Strong social commitment, with a positive attitude and passion for locally-led projects.
Ability to work and live in a multicultural environment. The ideal candidate should be highly motivated and creative, as well as flexible and independent in their work ethic.
Language: Fluent in English, Thai as an asset
Other desired skills: Ability to drive a motorbike, or ability to learn (CM only)
Working hours: Full time - Monday to Friday with occasional weekends and evenings.
Compensation : NA.
Note:
The volunteer might need to be responsible to cover all transportation costs to/from the Baan Dek Foundation office and/or from the country of residence (if applicable), medical/accident insurance, and visa fees for the whole duration of the mission to support the Baan Dek Foundation in Thailand.
The volunteer is responsible to cover all fee related to quarantine, ASQ, COVID 19 test and medical check and immigration.
