Recruiting Organization: The Friendship Squad
The Friendship Squad, Inc seeks an organized, compassionate person to volunteer as a Volunteer Coordinator
Responsibilities:
a) recruit a group of 10 Volunteer Friends who are people in recovery from mental health and or addiction challenges. create a list of your volunteers with contact info and a space for notes. help is available to accomplish this.
b) connect volunteers to their Peers who are struggling, isolated and in need of a friend. help is available to assist with this.
c) match volunteers with friends based on the information they share in their applications. find compatibilities. "matchmaker, matchmaker, make me a match"
d) encourage friends to mediate any difficulties. step in as needed
e) check-in on volunteers and Friends every month. make sure that you receive a response from participants via phone email or text
f) moderate once a month zoom meetings with volunteers to share and receive group feedback on any challenges experienced. help is available for this.
g) encourage everyone to adhere to their signed Agreements, especially regarding frequency of contact
h) plan holiday zoom events for volunteers and Friends together, some seeing their friend's faces for the first time. help available for this.
i) try to put dates on major events in the relationship like: first contact; point where contact was lost; major disagreements or other confusion
j) volunteers and or Friends may leave before the 6-month commitment is up. try your best to reconnect people so that you are always working with 10 volunteers and 10 Friends. try to connect Friends who have lost volunteers with new Peers who have matching interests and experiences. Same applies to volunteers who have lost Friends for whatever reason.
k) encourage the development of lasting friendships
l) document difficulties and successes to be included in project evaluation at the end of the 6-month period
