Recruiting Organization: Centro Romero

Centro Romero is a community-based organization serving the refuge/immigrant population in northeast Chicago. Rooted in the deep commitment to social justice exemplified by the eponymous Saint Oscar Romero, we seek to improve the lives and livelihoods of the communities we serve in a number of ways, including through adult education.

We are in need of a volunteer to take over a Beginner ESL class from a departing volunteer. The class meets on Saturday mornings. You would be working with people who are only just learning the very most basic English speaking skills, so a background in Spanish would be extremely helpful.

Not only is this a great resume builder, but it is also a way to make a difference in the lives of individuals and, through them, in the life of the northeast Chicago community. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and walks of life, but you must have a high school diploma and reside in the state of Illinois for at least 70% of the year in order to volunteer with us.
