Volunteer Opportunity Description- We are seeking Visiting Volunteers for our Visit-A-Bit program. Visit-A-Bit (VAB) is designed to directly address senior adult loneliness in the Greater St. Louis area. It’s a weekly socialization program (at least one hour a week but no more than two) that connects volunteers with seniors who may be living alone or in a senior community. The program pairs them together based on location, interests, and hobbies to develop meaningful relationships.

Requirements Of The Program:

• Call the Visit-A-Bit Manager with any issues, concerns, or questions.
• Visits take place at the senior's home (we pair based on your location/interests).
• Complete an online visit report after visiting with your assigned senior.
• Be a friend to your senior and refer to your training manual if you have questions.
• Must be respectful, gentle, kind, and non-judgmental.
• Visit your senior weekly for at least one hour but no more than two hours.
• In the event you can't visit one week, you replace the visit with a phone call.

Qualifications:

· Must be at least 16 years old, in high school and have a valid driver’s license.

· No experience required.

· Should exhibit a great deal of patience and provide a peaceful and meaningful experience for your Senior.

· Volunteers should genuinely want to be there and want to help. This is a long term commitment.

· No certifications or specific licenses required.

· No physical exertions or qualifications required to be a volunteer.
