Recruiting Organization: Doorways
*We are now recruiting for our Winter 2022 training class beginning in January 2022*
Doorways is an Arlington-based non-profit agency helping individuals and families create pathways out of homelessness, domestic violence and sexual assault leading to safe, stable and empowered lives. We envision a community where all people live free of violence and have safe and stable housing regardless of their gender, race, ethnicity, age, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, abilities, language, or national origin. We see a future without homelessness or domestic and sexual violence.
We are seeking individuals to act as Volunteer Shelter Coordinators for at least 8 hours per month (usually two 4-hour shifts) in our Domestic Violence Safehouse. Volunteer Shelter Coordinators respond to hotline calls, ensure the smooth operation of the shelter and assist in meeting the needs of domestic violence survivors and their children residing at the shelter. Typical shifts are Saturdays and Sundays 10am-2pm & 2pm-6pm, weekday evenings 6pm-10pm and weekday mornings 7am-11am.
Volunteers must complete 40 hours of training in person and submit background checks. Training class starts in January 2022. One year commitment required.
