Job Summary
Responsible for placing animals in responsible placement options for AIR case animals and animals in custody by matching the best placement options for each individual animal to thrive. By providing assistance in documenting census for distribution to approved placement partners, and assisting in assuring all documentation is accurate when animals go to placement.
Essential Duties and Functions
- Collect, maintain and grow animal placement database
- Research potential placement agencies
- Make contact with placement prospects
- Clearly and professionally communicate AIR’s mission
- Acquire and cultivate new placement partnerships to grow database
- Assist in developing placement partnerships approval protocol
- Assist prospective partners in the selection of animals for placement and in the preparation of paperwork for transfer.
- Remain up to date on animal inventory to be able to match animals with appropriate placement
- Collaborate with Emergency Shelter Manager/Director to ensure all animal information is up to date on census for transfers
- When needed, assist in taking organizing photographs for animals available transfer and uploading to the database
- Manage placement email inboxes and phone calls to answer questions about available animals and provide support.
- Engage with Emergency Shelter manager/director to learn the animals placement needs
- Occasionally attend events and AIR Responder Orientations to network for potential placement opportunities.
- Accurately provide information to the placement partners about AIR animals
- Represent AIR by providing excellent customer service and focus.
- Work collaboratively, communicate effectively and provide training as needed to colleagues and volunteers of Placement Team
- Additional tasks assigned by supervisor and/or manager.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds may be required
- Including but not limited to; walking, stooping (bend at waist), standing, sitting, driving, stretching/reaching
- Primarily done remotely
- Possible exposure to animals, some of which may be fearful if available to vist shelter
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent or higher
- Available to work flexible scheduling if required
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office preferred
- Some knowledge of Google Suites preferred
- Exceptional customer service skills

- Demonstrate ability in handling multiple priorities, project management and meeting deadlines; strong planning and organizational skills.
- Strong customer service orientation, with experience in effectively addressing and resolving issues with constituents.
- Ability to proactively monitor and adjust activities to respond to changing circumstances and priorities to meet goals, proactively address issues as they arise and mitigate risks.
- Strong computer skills specifically in spreadsheets, photo/ video Management and organization.
- Excellent attention to detail, problem solving, and time management skills.
- Previous experience with animal rescue or shelter preferred, but not required.
- Self starter and able to work alone or collaboratively
