Our Teams usually meet on a weekly basis and are conducted in a flat leadership style where all members, regardless of role and responsibilities have an equal opportunity to contribute. helpNYC strives to provide an environment for our volunteers to grow personally, spiritually, and professionally.

The helpNYC.info Resource Navigator is the signature program of helpNYC. The Resource Navigator Program Team is responsible for the administration and operations of the program. They also identify resources in the community that serves New Yorkers in Need and builds partnerships with them.

Position Responsibilities

  • Identify, Research, Verify, and Publish program listings.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Social Service Agencies; Community Based and Faith Based Organizations; and City, State, and Federal agencies.
  • Identify and Connect with members of the community that helpNYC serves.
  • Participate in community events and activations.

Overall Volunteer Requirements

  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Personal computer, cell phone, and dependable internet access.
  • Current resident of New York City is preferred.
  • Lived experience with being underserved in New York City. (ie Mental Health Challenges, Homelessness, Socioeconomic, and other minorities.)
  • General knowledge of New York City-based Social Service Agencies; Community Based and Faith Based Organizations; and City, State, and Federal agencies.
  • Ability to speak and write in English, bilingual skills welcome.
  • Excellent Gramar and Compisition skills.
  • Demonstrated Cultural Competency

Position Requirements

  • Strong investigative and analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills including communications using email only.
  • Ability to update a database and manage data across multiple platforms.
  • Advance operational knowledge of Monday.com, Zoom, Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs, Drive, Gmail, Sites), and other productivity applications and platforms.
  • Ability to develop and maintain processes to verify programs.

Time Commitment

  • 5-15 hours per week, at the leisure of the volunteer
  • Team Meetings are once per week.

Support

  • Training for this position will be provided.
  • Members of the Leadership Team are available to all volunteers at any time.
