About Boston Medical Center
Boston Medical Center (BMC) is an academic medical center located in Boston’s historic South End and is the primary teaching affiliate for Boston University School of Medicine. BMC is the largest and busiest provider of trauma and emergency services in New England. Emphasizing community-based care, BMC is committed to providing consistently excellent and accessible health services to all.
The majority of BMC’s patients reside in Boston’s low-income neighborhoods and face poor social determinants of health, such as unstable housing, low income, unsafe neighborhoods or substandard education. As a result, BMC has become the driver of better outcomes for our city’s residents, offering nationally-recognized social services that tackle these obstacles and provide so much more than standard medicine. The care at BMC makes the seemingly impossible, possible for our patients--offering food, clothing and transportation assistance, addressing language and cultural barriers and providing access to chronic disease support services to name a few.
