Recruiting Organization: Infinite Insight Inc

Holistically, the Board is responsible for:

  • Respecting all staff and understanding that staff (in any organizational capacity) has authority over the Board except in matters relative to Board governance
  • Adhering to and enforcing the organization’s Bylaws, policies, and/or resolutions
  • Actively participating in ongoing professional development, mostly virtual
  • Preparing for, attending, and effectively participating in (at least) quarterly Board meetings and on committees and/or special assignments
  • Collaboratively updating the organization’s vision, mission, values, and beliefs as necessary
  • Delegating its trust to and confidence in the CIO who runs the day-to-day activities of the organization
  • Setting the compensation for the CIO
  • Monitoring and approving programs, services, annual budgets, and audit reports
  • Defining and updating (as necessary) the expectations, standards, and performance metrics for the governing body and CIO in collaboration with the CIO
  • Serving without remuneration except for reimbursement of expenses incurred in conjunction with fulfilling responsibilities such as hotel accommodations, registration fees, meals, and travel for participation in required and/or essential professional development as approved by the CIO

Each Director is responsible for:

  • Having a passion for the organization’s vision, mission, beliefs, programs, and needs
  • Publicly serving as ambassadors for the organization
  • Identifying, leveraging, and securing connections, networks, partnerships, and financial resources to advance the organization’s mission by positively effecting fundraising, public image, and influencing public policy
  • Fully reading and understanding the organization’s financial statements
  • Making an annual pre-established personal financial contribution and raising a pre-determined financial contribution from donors
  • Signing an annual Conflict of Interest Statement, Confidentiality Attestation, and Board Member Agreement
  • Annually self-assessing individual Member performance
  • Measuring the effectiveness of the CIO annually
  • Dedicating time and resources to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities as a member of the Board of Directors

  • A knowledge of and commitment to understanding the organization’s beneficiaries based on residence and/or experience

Skills

Developed capacities that facilitate learning include but may not be limited to:

  • Savvy diplomatic skills and a natural affinity for cultivating relationships, persuading, convening, facilitating, and building consensus among diverse individuals

Abilities

Enduring attributes that influence performance include but may not be limited to:

  • Availability of financial resources and/or a great deal of influence in administration, agriculture, apiology, board development, community service, education, equine-assisted services, finance, fundraising, grant writing, horticulture, human resources, infrastructure, investments, legal, lepidopterology, ornithology policy development, program evaluation, public relations, special events, strategic planning, and volunteer management
  • Serving communities (perhaps) other than your own
