Recruiting Organization: Choosing Our Roots

Respite providers are volunteers who are able to offer hosting support when a host family is out of town by either staying in the host home with the COR participant OR hosting the participant temporarily in their own home. Respite providers will be added to a listserv through which COR will make calls for respite needs. No respite home will host more than two (2) participants at any given time.

Because respite implies short-term, there may be the option that someone being hosted under respite will not have access to their own space. If a participant is being housed on respite without their own living space, that placement will not exceed seven (7) days.

Volunteers working directly with youth under the age of 18 or vulnerable adults will be required to have a background check completed. More information about those background checks as well as individual rights of people being fingerprinted are included in the volunteer and host home applications.
