The Pharo Foundation (hereafter the '’Foundation") is a privately funded entrepreneurial organisation that runs philanthropic programs as well as for-profit Social Ventures. The Foundation’s vision is an economically vibrant Africa and the mission is to achieve that vision by investing in Africa’s human and physical capital with a strong focus on job creation. The Foundation was established in 2011 as a non-profit based in the UK. Since, the Foundation made a strategic shift to directly design and implement its own programs in order to ensure greater engagement with communities, better results and increased accountability. The key themes for the philanthropic side of the Foundation are education, health, water and agriculture. The education program is one of the largest programs the Foundation runs in Somaliland. The Pharo Kindergarten, Pharo Primary and Pharo Secondary schools ensure access to formal and quality education to produce well developed, empowered students and leaders.
