About the AmeriCorps VISTA Program:
Since 1965, over 220,000 AmeriCorps members in the VISTA program have joined the fight against poverty by helping local organizations expand their capacity to make change. The VISTA program serves in each of the 50 U.S. States and in all U.S. territories.
Through Capacity building activities such as fundraising, grant writing, research, and volunteer recruitment, AmeriCorps Members in the VISTA program are able to gain experience and leadership skills. This opportunity prepares members for a life of service in the public, private, or nonprofit sector.
Members serving in the AmeriCorps VISTA program serve full time for one-year terms. They build capacity in nonprofit organizations and public agencies to help them more effectively generate the commitment of private sector resources, encourage volunteer service at the local level, and empower individuals and communities.
Members in the AmeriCorps VISTA program are eligible for a modest living allowance of $15,002 over the year of service to cover basic expenses, health insurance, professional development training, and an end of service education award, or an $1,800 cash stipend.

This VISTA project will develop long-term solutions to alleviating poverty through building the capacity of volunteers, particularly those from the communities we serve, to lead programs, build partnerships, expand reach, and serve as ambassadors for our anti-poverty work. Vista Members will build and strengthen volunteer-led programs that are essential in food bank and partner operations, food sourcing, rural and neighborhood-level food distribution, client and collective statewide voice, and public-facing ambassadorship. Vista members will perform assessments, expand partnerships, develop materials, and pilot programs; their service will benefit over 100,000 food insecure community members across southwestern Wisconsin.
