Recruiting Organization: Urban Wildlife Research Project
Seeking Marketing Volunteer
If you love wildlife and can put your marketing savvy to
work helping it thrive, we’d like to hear from you!
The mission of the Urban Wildlife Research Project is to document gray fox behavior in the Palo Alto Baylands region in order to establish healthy habitats and develop the biodiverse wildlife corridors necessary for their survival. As a result, UWRP helps San Francisco Bay area people and
wild nature coexist through research, advocacy and public education.
Marketing Volunteer Role description: We are looking for a driven Marketing Volunteer to actively
engage with our current community and grow our outreach. You will work with our team to create an overall marketing strategy for ongoing social media and to promote events. You should have a solid understanding of how each social media channel works and how to optimize content so that it is engaging on those channels. You are responsible for joining relevant conversations on behalf of the Urban Wildlife Research Project and "soft selling" our work by engaging with current and prospective users.
Time commitment: We are flexible. Many of our volunteers spend 2 to 4 hours a week on their projects. Let’s work together to see what may work for you.
Responsibilities include: Planning and executing overall marketing strategy. Likely will include twice-monthly postings and event-related outreach 4 to 6 times a year. Work with our team to
generate, edit, publish and share content that builds meaningful connections and encourages community members to take action. (We have a volunteer creating videos. You only need to post and track.) Moderate all user-generated content. Continuously improve by capturing and analyzing the appropriate social data/metrics, insights and best practices, and then acting on the information.
Skills you need for this role: Experience in marketing. Excellent IT literacy, writing, editing, presentation and communication skills. A friendly and engaging manner is a bonus. You’ll need an ability to work on your own initiative.
The benefits to you: Opportunity to use and improve your communications & engagement skills for our local wildlife. You will have exposure to wildlife behavior research, and ongoing support. You will meet with our team (via Zoom for now) at 6 board meetings a year (Saturday mornings). We are all passionate about wildlife.
Apply for Marketing Volunteer Role: We are excited to add the right person to the Urban Wildlife Research Project, [UWRP]. We think you’ll enjoy working with our board of directors and all-volunteer staff as well as gain satisfaction providing your marketing know-how for the good of the UWRP. Please include 1 or 2 references: people and/or companies that you’ve worked with in the past or present and include their contact information.
We thank you for your interest!
