OPEN POSITION: VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR at NOURISH ECO VILLAGE

Starting: January 2022, for a duration of 9-12 months (extension is possible)

Nourish is a non profit organisation based in the Greater Kruger Area near Orpen Gate of Kruger National Park. Nourish's goal is to grow resilient wildlife communities, through conservation education and sustainable development. We do this through education, enterprise and tourism projects and programs which we deliver through an Eco Village model.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

- Driver’s license

- People person

- Enthusiastic, positive attitude, detail oriented

- Open minded

- Excellent problem solving skills

- Flexible and pro-active

- Excellent English, both written and spoken

- Passion for people, development and conservation

- First aid training is a plus

- Knowledge or background in community development or sustainability is a plus

- Experience working with volunteers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As the volunteer coordinator you are end responsible for the entire volunteer program.

Meaning:

- Managing kitchen and housekeeping

- Make weekly shopping list for volunteers

- Follow pre-set menu

- Coordinate with cook and kitchen staff about menu for lunch + dinner and assist with meal cooking

- Make sure housekeeping keeps all rooms and common room clean

- Cook for/with volunteers on Friday evening, or when kitchen staff is off

- Volunteer arrival:

- Arrange pick-up logistics with other staff

- Welcome new volunteers and give tour/induction

- Weekly Schedule

- Coordinate a schedule for interns (volunteers with a specific task)

- Make weekly schedule for volunteers + coordinate, daily follow up on activities

- Arrange transport for any off-site activities

- Organise and implement weekly evening activities (game night, movie night, etc.)

- Weekends:

- Helping to organise various trips for volunteers on the weekend - this may mean you hosting volunteers on these trips.

- Problem solving:

- Contact the right authorities in case of emergency (police, ambulance, etc.)

- Inform management of any problems
