Recruiting Organization: CASA of Jackson County
CASAs are well trained, community volunteers appointed to children in the care of Child Welfare due to abuse and/or neglect. CASAs ensure children's needs are met, their voices are heard in court, and that they have one consistent person to rely on. CASAs do not take children into their homes but they do visit them in their placements. Must be 21, attend an orientation, complete an application and interview, pass a background check, and complete 40 hours of training. CASAs can co-CASA as a team; i.e., spouses, significant others, or friends. We have over 250 CASAs between Jackson and Josephine Counties serving 700 children annually, but 350 children remain on our waitlist. We need more CASAs.
